A suspect wanted for a recent shooting in Mahabage, linked to multiple crimes, was shot dead in a confrontation with STF personnel in Sooriyawewa.

The suspect, known as Hettiarachchige Don Sujith alias “Ukkuwa,” was implicated in the fatal shooting near a meat shop on Feb. 21. Two other suspects, including an army officer, have been arrested.

The incident is believed to be linked to a rivalry between criminal gangs, with ongoing police investigations.
