Opposition parties have announced their intention to bring a motion of no confidence against Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

The decision stems from allegations that the Speaker violated parliamentary procedures regarding the Online Safety Bill.

SJB MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha confirmed the move, citing the Speaker's alleged neglect of Judiciary directives.

The motion is set to be submitted in the coming days following a meeting of opposition parties. Tensions rise as the dispute over parliamentary conduct intensifies.
