Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe assured the public that the upcoming Presidential Election will be conducted in accordance with constitutional provisions.

Addressing concerns, the minister emphasized that there is no need for undue apprehension regarding the electoral process.

"The Presidential Election will be held in due time, in compliance with the constitutional provisions," stated Minister Rajapakshe, during a popular political talk show. He added that there was no constitutional provision to delay the presidential election. 

MP Gunapala Rathnasekara highlighted that the SLPP  is yet to finalize its stance regarding support for a presidential candidate.
