In preparation for the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced a 16-member squad, with notable changes in leadership and player composition.
Kusal Mendis has been entrusted with the captaincy role for the series, while Charith Asalanka will serve as the vice-captain.
However, the squad announcement also came with some notable exclusions and inclusions. Dasun Shanaka, who previously captained the Sri Lankan side, has been omitted from the squad. In his place, Chamika Karunaratne has been included, adding depth to both the batting and bowling departments.
One of the most anticipated returns to the squad is that of Wanindu Hasaranga, who makes a comeback following his recovery from injuries. Hasaranga's inclusion is expected to bolster Sri Lanka's spin bowling options and provide crucial support to the team's quest for success against Afghanistan.
