State Minister Chamara Sampath has faced an attack yesterday in Badulla. The incident had taken place yesterday evening on Bandaranaike Mawatha, Badulla where two persons had hurled abuse at Sampath and then gone on to attack him with a motorcycle helmet.

It is said that the attack took place when the state minister stopped his car near a shop belonging to a Badulla local council member and was having a conversation.

However, as the minister's bodyguards intervened to prevent the attack, the state minister was not harmed sources said. The Police have arrested one person in connection to the incident.
