Leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Perramuna says going by the government’s rationale of selling loss-making state institutions in response to the economic crisis, then the government should also consider the sale of the Police, the Central Bank, the legal system and even the cabinet.
He said that the problem of inefficiency or loss is not dependent on the fact if an entity is owned by the government or the private sector owns it, but it is a socio-economic problem built on the corruption of the governments that ruled.
Dissanayake alleged that the current government is trying to cover up its incompetence by making profits under the guise of privatization.
