Former President Maithripala Sirisena says the Sri Lanka Freedom Party will form a new government through an alliance with leftist parties
Sirisena said he is not prepared to accept any positions in the current government as it continues to seek the addition of leaders from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
He made these remarks during a party meeting held at the Grand Monarch reception hall yesterday (29).
The former President said rumours are also rife that 30 more ministers and 40 state ministers will be appointed in the future.
According to him while his party felt he could serve the people better by accepting the Premiership, he said he is not prepared to accept the post in a government led by those of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
Sirisena also said the SLFP has at no time granted permission to those from the party to accept Ministerial positions in the current government. “Some claim they accepted posts with the approval of the party or its Chairman. These are lies” he said.
