Minister Harin Fernando says former Minister and MP Ranjan Ramanayake will be released from prison either tomorrow or Monday. Fernando in a tweet said Ramanayake is being released after a request made by him and Minister Manusha Nanayakkara along with others to President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Fernando also thanked Minister of Justice Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa for his tireless efforts to ensure Ramanayke’s release.

Earlier today Ramanayake submitted an affidavit to the courts apologising for the comments made by him that led to his incarceration. The affidavit was submitted as a condition put forward for his release.
