The government today presented a detailed breakdown of how the Itukama fund set up for COVID19 relief has been utilized thus far.
According to the statement, Rs. 391,479,824.00 — that is, 23% of the fund has been thus far utilised— leaving Rs. 1,360,922,969.24 for use.
The total amount of money secured by the government stands at Rs. 1,752,402,793.24.
Breakdown of how funds were used is as follows:
LKR 42,605,812.00 - PCR testing LKR 67,543,967.00 - Education/Information LKR 38,031,065.00 - Quarantine LKR 3,000 - Admin LKR 41,545,980.00 - Vaccination LKR 194,000,000.00 - To purchase 10 ambulances LKR 7,750,000.00 - ICU beds
The Government has resolvesd o use the remainder of the Fund — LKR 1,360,922,969.24 — on the vaccinations programme.
