The government’s earlier decision to conduct Rapid Antigen tests at 12 entry points of the Western Province has not been implemented.
Although the police was deployed at the entry point, no one representing health authorities were present at the locations to conduct tests. When contacted, Health Ministry sources said they did not receive advice to perform tests at the entry points.
The decision was made earlier today as a way of curbing the spread of COVID19 as the number of patients has seen a record increase.
Meanwhile, PHI Union Head Upul Rohana said a decision was made by higher authorities not to conduct random tests due to undisclosed reasons.
