Opposition MP Harin Fernando has been summoned before the Criminal Investigations Department this morning to record a statement on the Easter Sunday attacks.
Fernando is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo for a sudden illness. A team of CID officers have visited the private hospital yesterday and asked the MP to appear before the CID today.
The development came after his revelations in Parliament that there was an alleged involvement of some military persons behind the Easter Sunday attacks.
Meanwhile, an opposition MP said there was a possibility that Fernando could be arrested over the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) which could lead to his detention for 03 months.
The Parliamentarian said the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, led by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, would take every possible measure to protect the rights of the MP.
