Dr Neville Fernando, who was admitted to the National Institute for Infectious Diseases (IDH) with COVID19 earlier this week, has passed away.

The founder of the Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital, Dr Fernando was moved to the ICU of the IDH yesterday.

He was 89 at the time of his passing
