Clearly 4000 cases have been delayed due to the shortage of officers at the Analyst's Department, former Secretary to the Minister of Judiciary J.J. Ratnasiri states.

“There should be only 12,000 inmates in the 31 prisons in the country, but there are 26,000 inmates. This is a direct result of the shortage of officials.”

He said that steps are being taken to fill 27 of the 93 vacancies for Assistant Analysts in the Department of the Government Analyst.
