The Police today recorded a statement from Anura Lewke, the owner of the house which collapsed In Kandy yesterday, killing three.
Speaking to media, Lewke said the house was constructed according to proper standards and the contract was given to a private construction company.
He also added that he obtained permission from the relevant authorities before constructing the house.
However, initial investigations have revealed that the building which collapsed in Kandy had not been constructed according to proper standards.
Authorities said the construction had been done without adhering to the guidelines issued by the National Building Research Organization. The construction, according to them, had been done on a high-risk land.
Geological sceintists visited the location yesterday and conducted initial investgations into the collapse of the building.
