SLPP MP Dilan Perera said he was in a position to resolve the issues of farmers who face numerous difficltues due to monkeys.

The MP said nealry 60% of crops produced by farmers are destroyed by monkeys invading cultivated lands.

He said even the people in the Colombo district were grappling with this problem. "Monkeys will soon invade the parliamentary premises as well," he added.

"As there are ministries to resolve the human-elephant conflict and issues faced by those involved in the claty indusry, there should also be a minister to look into this problem," he added.

"I will not hestitate to accept that ministry and deliver results," Perera also said.
