Non-Essential goods that can be grown and harvested in Sri Lanka including the import of new vehicles has been temporarily suspended.
"Due to the fallout from the COVID19 pandemic, this is seen as a necessary step to boost the economy by reducing on imports in relation to our exports," he tweeted.
"As an additional cost cutting measure, the printing of passports and documents related to security from private vendors was directed to the Government Printing Department. A feasibility report will be called for to ascertain the viability of printing all government in the future," Rambukwella added.
