Ruling party MP Gevindu Kumaratunga said the President had promised to issue a "new Gazette notification" with regard to the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.
Speaking to media, Kumaratunga said the new Gazette would contain amendment to the previous Gazette on the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.
Kumaratunga said the matter was widely discussed at the group meeting of the ruling party and everyone acknowledged the importance on being sensitive to the public opinion on the proposed amendment.
He also added that 20th Amendment to the Constition would only remain in force until the passage of a new constitution.
He said the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa's committee on the 20th Amendment would present their recommendations soon.
