Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has assured that the Provincial Council election will certainly take place.
During a discussion with former Southern Provincial Councillor Somwansa Kodagoda, Rajapaksa said the government was determined to hold the PC election.
The Prime Minister has said the views against Provincial Council are personal opinions and they have no bearing on the collecitve opinion of the government.
However, a section of ruling party members are lobbying for the abolisiton the Provincial Councils.
