Justice Minister Mohamed Ali Sabry met US Ambassador Alaina B Teplitz and discussed the backlog of court cases and overcrowding of prisons in the country, the Justice Ministry said.
The Ambassador met the minister at the ministry on Tuesday and discussed the present role and future plans in terms of courts and the meting out of justice, infrastructure development of the court system, prison congestion, training of judges and matters related to reparation.
Ministry secretary Priyantha Mayadunne and the minister's private secretary Janaka Ranatunga were also present.
