The Cabinet has approved a nine-member committee to formulate the draft of a new constitution for the county.

The committee is chaired by President's Counsel Romesh de Silva .

Others include presidents counsel Gamini Marapana, Manohara de Silva, Sanjeewa Jayawardena, Samantha Ratwatte , Prof. G. L. Peiris and Nazima Kamardeen.

The government has announced its plans to introduce a new Constitution as per the mandate given by the public at the last Parliamentary election.
