A pregnant mother, who returned from the Middle East has tested positive for Covid-19 today while in self-quarantine in Arachchikattuwa, Kottapitiya, Health Ministry said.

After completing the initial quarantine period of 14 days at the Vavuniya quarantine centre upon her return from the Middle East, she was instructed to undergo self-quarantine at her residence.

Later, she had visited the Chilaw Hospital to seek treatment for fever and she was then admitted to the Covid-19 Special Treatment Unit where she tested positive for the virus following a PCR test.
