The recent unexpected islandwide power outage that lasted several hours was a due to human error, a committee report has confirmed.
The report was commissioned by Power Minister Dallas Allahaperuma, who appointed a nine member committee headed by Professsor Rahula Attalage to investigate the cause of the outage.
The investigative report was handed over to the Minister on August 24, and is due to be handed over to the Cabinet today.
News reports had previously indicated the August 17 power outage at the Kerawalapitiya Sub-Grid was due to a technical error due to the fault of an engineer.
