The Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has said it intends to introduce a 'number portability facility' to Sri Lanka soon.

A number portability facility allows users to switch to service providers of their choice without having to change existing numbers, the TRC explained.

Preliminary steps have already been taken in this regard and it is expected the service will be useful to many users.

Number portability facility is already used in a number of countries in the world.
