Former MP Mervin Silva's son Malaka Silva who was arrested by the Thalangama Police yesterday has been granted bail by the Kaduwela Magistrate.

Silva was arrested by the Thalangama Police for allegedly posing death threats and soliciting money from a businessman, Police said.

The suspect, who is to be produced in Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court soon, had allegedly demanded money from a businessman in Battaramulla for Mervyn Silva’s election campaign a few weeks ago. Later the suspect had telephoned the victim and threatened to kill him.
