Former Sports Minister Harin Fernando congratulated the newly appointed Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa on his new responsibility.

Rajapaksa was sworn in as the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs before President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa this morning. He is the youngest Sports Minister in the political history of Sri Lanka.

“I congratulate @RajapaksaNamal on his new portfolio of being the new sports minister. I hope he upholds the work we did in creating an environment where sports was free of politics & corruption. I am certain you will do a great as you yourself are a sportsmen. All the best,” Fernando tweeted.

Rajapaksa has also captained the Sri Lankan Rugby team and has also served as a Rugby coach.
