Former President Maithripala Sirisena is tipped to be appointed a Cabinet Minister tomorrow, informed government sources said.

Sirisena will be the first retired President in the Sri Lankan political history to be appointed a Cabinet minister.

The former President topped the preferential votes in the Polonnaruwa district obtaining over 100000 votes.

Meanwhile, former Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena is expected to be appointed the Speaker of the new Parliament.
