The UNP is likely to nominate Nissanka Nanayakkara for the only national list seat they obtained at the last Presidential election.

Nanayakkara, a former Chairman of the People’s Bank, is the Legal Affairs Secretary of the party.

UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has ruled out the possibility of his appointment as the national list MP of the party.

He has also maintained that no defeated MP should be appointed to Parliament through the national list.
