Former JVP Parliamentarian Sunil Handunnetti will not secure a seat in the new Parliament.
According to the results that have been released so sar, the seven seats in the Matara district will be divided between the SLPP and the SJB.
The SJB is expected to win six seats while the while the SJB will secure only one.
While stepping down from his candiacy at the Parliamentary election, former Minister Mangala Samaraweera urged te public to relect Handunnetti to Parliament.
Handunnetti served as the Chairman of COPE for two consecutive terms.
