Two Sri Lankans have been injured due to the explosion in Beirut, Lebanon, Sri Lankan Embassy in Beirut said.
“It has been reported that two Sri Lankans and the Sri Lanka Embassy is awaiting further information in this regard from the Ministry of Public Health. Further developments on the incident will be conveyed upon the receipt of the information,” the embassy said.
It also said that due to the sudden explosion, minor damages have occurred at the premises of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Beirut and in the residences of the Embassy officials. However, the Embassy officials have not sustained any injuries, it said.
Around 25000 Sri Lankans presently reside in Lebanon and the Sri Lanka Embassy continues to maintain 24-hour hotlines which are open for queries.
