Sri Lanka Podujana Party Ratnapura District candidate Premalal Jayasekera and two others have been sentenced to death.

The ruling was given over a shooting that took place in Kahawatte during the presidential election period in 2015.

However, four suspects who were charged with murder in the same case were previously acquitted and released by the High Court of Ratnapura.
