Former SLPP MP Prasanna Ranaweera said even he did not accept throwing chili powder in Parliament.
Speaking to the media this morning, Ranaweera said he had to thriw chilli powder in Parliament to safeguard democracy.
"If the JVP can throw a bomb in Parliament and Ranjan Ramanayake can carry knives to the House, what's the point in blaming me for throwing chilli powder
However, the former MP said he agreed with the view that well-educated candidates and intellectuals should be sent to Parliament.
"Having said that, I must say that the Viyathmaga candidates running in the Gampaha district, cannot pose any challenge to me," he added.
