Police Spokesman SSP Jaliya Senaratne said the Police did not possess any verified information to conclude that the underworld figure "Angoda Lokka" had died in India.

"We are in the process of verifying these reports. We stlll do not have any conclusive evidence," Senaratne said.

"There is also a possibity that Angoda Lokka himself is circulating these reports. That will allow him to change his appearance and return to Sri Lanka under a different name and engage in criminal activities," he added.

The Police Spokesman also said that if the Police managed to verify these reports with concrete evidence, they would inform the court and resort to necessary action.

Multipe reports indicated that the underworld figure died in India after a woman with whom he had an illicit affair poisoned him.
