The Ministerial Security Division has said that SLPP candidate Jeevan Thondaman has been given MSD secrurty following "orders" given to them,.

The 26-year-old-politician is the son of former Minister Arumugam Thondaman who died last week. Jeevan Thondaman's name was included in the SLPP nominations list following the demise of his farher.

MSD Director SSP W. Thilakaratne has told an English daily that they received orders from the government higher-ups to provide Jeevan Thondaman with MSD security.

Election monitors have raised questions about MSD security being given to Jeevan Thondaman without any apparent reason.
