Amidst growing calls to lockdown high-risk areas of the country in the face of a possible second wave, President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa today assured that Sri Lanka would overcome the COVID19 challenge.
Speaking at the COVID19 task force meeting, Rajapaksa said Sri Lanka took exemplary measures to control the spread of the disease at the initial stages.
The President instructed health authorities to increase testing in high-risk areas including Rajanganaya.
The President also instructed them to expedite contact tracing and measures quarantine individuals who had contacts with patients.
Rajapaksa also stressed the need to inform the public about the ongoing measures to control the situation.
