The Postal Department has temporarily suspended the distribution of polling cards in high-risk areas due to the current situation in the country.
Informed sources at the department said the process would be halted until they receive guidelines from the health authorities.
The distribution of polling cards started yesterday. However, polling cards were not delivered to those on self-quarantine in their houses.
Over 8000 postal workers attached to 2000 post offices across the country are involved in the distribution of polling cards.
Meanwhile, the United National Party has officially called for the postponement of the Parliamentary election due to a possible second wave of COVID19.
