A prisoner who was admitted to the Negombo Hospital for PCR testing died after falling from the 8th floor of the hospital.

Hospital authorities said the man fell while trying to escape.

Hospital sources also confirmed that he was a drug addict who was undergoing rehabilitation.

Further investigations are underway.
