There is no truth in rumours that some parts of the country have been isolated due to suspected COVID19 cases, Army Commander Lt. General Shavendra Silva said.
Speaking to the media, Silva said all measures have been taken to prevent the spread of COVID19 within the community.
"If there is a spread somewhere, we will be transparent about it and the information will be duly communicated to the public," he added.
The Army Commander added that staff members at the Kandakadu Drug Rehabilitation Centre, who went on leave recently, have been recalled.
"The majority of them have already returned to the centre. Their family members have been asked to quarantine," the Army chief said while requesting the public not to fall for rumours and unverified information.
