The United National Party has written to the Elections Commission Chairman asking the latter to prevent the Samagi Jana Balawegaya from using the UNP's official colour green for SJB's propaganda activities.

In his letter to the EC Chairman, UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has stated that the SJB's continuous use of green has hampered the UNP's propaganda activities.

The letter further points out that the SJB's official colour is blue.

However, speaking at a television interview, SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara a party could use any colour for their activities and all of them were still members of the UNP.
