An inmate who was transferred from the Kandakadu Drug Rehabilitation Centre to the Welikada Prison last month has tested positive for Covid-19.

Health authorities stated that the person had returned from the rehabilitation centre on June 27.

Informed sources said rapid action would be taken to quarantine those who came into contact with the patient. With this latest development, the total number of COVId19 patients in Sri Lanka has risen to 2078.
