Army Commander Lt. General Shavendra Silva said measures were underway to face a "second wave" of COVID19.

Speaking to a TV station from the Army headquarters, Colombo, the Commander said Sri Lanka was positive that there would not be a "second wave" of COVID19 in the country.

He said it was an encouraging sign that no COVID19 has been reported from the "community" since April 30.

The Army Commander added that strict health and safety guidelines have been put in place to prevent the spread of the virus.

He also added that the reopening of the airport for tourists on August 01 remained doubtful due to the prevailing global situation.
