A poster campaign has been carried out in Polonnaruwa saying the next Prime Minister will emerge from the district.

However, the posters do not specifically promote a candidate.

Former President Maithripala Sirisena is also contesting the election from the Polonnaruwa district on the SLPP ticket.

The SLPP has already stated that the current Prime Minister, Mahinda Rajapaksa, will be re-appointed to the position after the election.
