SLPP Colombo District candidate Wimal Weerawansa urged the people to surround the Elections Commission's office as the Elections Commission Chairman is working against his party.

Speaking to reporters yesterday, Weerawansa criticised EC Chairman Deshapriya for not allowing political parties to display pictures and numbers of candidates in their offices.

"The EC's decision will affect the campaign of the SLPP as we are set to win the election with a large margin. The Opposition is already divided into many groups and they don't have any chance," he said. He also added that the EC allowed candidates to display their cutouts and numbers in election offices at the last election.

"The EC's decision will confuse and discourage our voters. This is a well-orchestrated plan against our party."

Weerawansa described the Elections Commission Chairman as a "great actor".

"Deshapriya would have given Joe Abeywickrema a run for his money," he said.
