The Sports Ministry Secretary has written to the Ministry's Special Investigation Unit instructing to conduct an inquiry on the controversial claim made by Mahindananda Aluthgamage.
The former Sports Minister said the final match of the 2011 ICC World Cup was fixed and the match was "sold to India."
Aluthgamage's statement came under severe criticism from several senior cricketers.
Aluthgamage's "revelation" came Just weeks after several senior cricketers raised their voice against the government's plan to build a cricket stadium in Homagama.
Several senior players who opposed the cricket stadium project, including Mahela Jayawardena and Kumar Sangakkara, were prominent members of the team which played the final match against India.
Sri Lanka lost the match to India despite being in a commanding position during the early stages of the game.
However, Aluthgamage is yet to present to any concrete evidence to prove that the match was fixed by members of the Sri Lankan cricket team.
