Former Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardena hit back at former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage who said the ICC World Cup final was "fixed".
"Is the elections around the corner. Looks like the circus has started. Names and evidence?" Jayawardena asked on Twitter, responding to the former Sports Minister's claims.
Aluthgamage's "revelation" came Just weeks after several senior cricketers raised their voice against the government's plan to build a cricket stadium in Homagama.
Several senior players who opposed the cricket stadium project, including Mahela Jayawardena and Kumar Sangakkara, were prominent members of the team which played the final match against India.
Sri Lanka lost the match to India despite being in a commanding position during the early stages of the game.
However, Aluthgamage is yet to present to any concrete evidence to prove that the match was fixed by members of the Sri Lankan cricket team.
