The 24-year-old law student who allegedly drove the Defender involved in the accident in which SIS Constable was killed, has been remanded till June 19.
The suspect has been identified as Tharinda Ratwatte, a Ruggerite who also has a connection to a well-known political family.
As a result of the accident, Sithum Alahapperuma, an SIS Police Constable who foiled the Rs. 7.9 Million robbery at the Colombo National Hospital died last morning. Initial investigations revealed that the driver was drunk at the time the accident occurred.
He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo National Accident following a fatal accident at the Thummulla junction on June 11. The officer was 22 years old at the time of his demise.
