The Supreme Court has postponed further consideration of the FR petitions challenging elections date till 10 AM tomorrow.

The court began consideration of the FR petitions filed challenging elections date and the Gazette notification dissolving Parliament.

Eight FR petitions have been filed before the Supreme Court in this regard and the petitions are being heard before a five-judge bench. President's Counsel M.A.Sumanthiran today made submissions before the court appearing for petitioner Charitha Gunaratne

Patali Champika Ranawaka and Kumara Welgama, two ex-MPs representing the main opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya have also filed a petition.

The Elections Commission has decided not to issue preferential numbers for candidates running for the Parliamentary election until the conclusion of the hearing of the petitions.
