A record 14,617 officers will be promoted on May 19 to mark the 11th anniversary of the war victory against the LTTE.

The 11th National War Heroes’ Day will be marked at the Jathika Ranaviru Smarakaya on May 19.

Strict health precautions will be maintained at the ceremony, which will have President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in attendance, the Army said.

Rajapaksa was the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence during the final phase of the war.
