Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today confirmed that 25 Sri Lankans have died in the United Kingdom after contracting the coronavirus.
Issuing a statement today, Prime Minister Rajapaksa said the COVID19 outbreak in Sri Lanka was now under control to a certain degree.
He added that the government had gradually begun relaxing curfew and facilitated resumption of work.
However, the Prime Minister said schools and tuition classes will remain closed until further notice.
Rajapaksa also said random sample testing among the public will be carried out and quarantine centers will be kept open." Even after the restoration of normalcy begins it may be necessary to isolate and lockdown certain areas and even impose police curfews," he said.
