The Bodu Bala Sena organization today said over 50 suicide bombers who are affiliated with extremist militants still roam around freely.
Addressing a press conference today, the Bodu Bala Sena stalwart Witharandeniye Nanda Thera said the government kept ignoring his organization's warnings about the growing Islamist terrorism.
"Some of those who were arrested with swords and other suspicious items have managed to obtain bail. This is a serious situation, " the BBS stalwart said.
"Had the government taken our warnings seriously, the issue of Islamist terrorist would have been nipped in the bud. But it kept ignoring us and it is the government's negligence that landed our country in the current crisis, " he added.
The BBS monk also added that President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe could not grasp the gravity of the current challenges faced by the country.
