Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today met the Mahanayake Theras in Kandy and discussed preparations for Vesak.
The Mahanayake Theras have already requested the public to refrain from gathering for festivities during Vesak and focus more on the 'spiritual spects' of the ceremony.
At the meeting with the Mahanayake Theras earlier today, Prime Minister Wicrkremesinghe informed them that adequate measures have been to provide ehanced security to Buddhist temples.
The Prime Minister also briefed the Mahanayake Theras on the current security situation in the country.
Meanwhile, Ports, Maritime Affairs and Southern Development Minister Sagala Ratnayaka also held a meeting with religious and community leaders in the Matara district on preparations for the Vesak ceremony.
"It was decided to have decorations but refrain from Pandals, also to proceed with regular religious activities at temples, with required security," Ratnayaka tweeted after the meeting.
